According to Holmes(1), only one pane of 120 stamps received the “Inverted Surcharge” variety. It is only known used and, when distinguishable, the cancellation is the “679” numeral of Tati. It was first listed in 1904, but was omitted from the catalogue in 1917 when the known examples were thought to be forgeries before later being re-admitted. I have recorded 19 examples so far.

Note: Holmes(1) states that part of the type of the word “Fourpence” fell out causing a progressive error with only “Fou” printing and then finally just the “F” printing. The “F” error occurred on stamp 98 of the sheet of 120. A unique positional lower left corner block of six with a RPS certificate has been recorded
