1899 (Jun 14) Registered envelope from London the HMS “Tartar” (built 1886) docked in Zanzibar, with four 1887 ½d vermilions with “C / A N / S” perfins (also on the 2d registered die) of the Army & Navy Co-operative Society Ltd, tied by London S.W.D.O. registered oval ds, no arrival, sent to Commander John Thirkill White, who died in Zanzibar on 16th July 1899 (just over one month after receiving this letter) and is buried in West Street Cemetery in Durban.
